Summit Theme - Performance | Art

Our places and spaces are best when they combine art and performance .People thrive in places that no only operate well and efficiently, but that also looks amazing.

Facilities managers are like carvers of these spaces, shaping environments that, in turn, shape the way people feel, interact, and thrive. A well-crafted place influences creativity, health, productivity and mood.

Our Summit this year is in our capital city, Te Whanganui a Tara - a place where aesthetics and creativity are celebrated. This is the artistic heart of Aotearoa.

It is also, as home to our members of parliament, a place of performance. Not only do our politicians perform in the Beehive - this special city is home to the government machine - of departments and civil servants. These must all perform exceptionally in our country and our people are to thrive.

Combining performance and art requires collaboration and craft. This is central to the work of the often unseen custodians of our places - facilities managers. Pretty much every time you, and everyone you know and love, is in a place or a building, they are being looked after by a facilities manager - who is keeping the building performing well - efficiently and healthy - while keeping it looking awesome too.

Whakairo ā-whare, whakairo ā-ngākau - the crafting of buildings is the crafting of hearts.
