The Environmental Defence Society (EDS) is a dedicated team of professionals who are committed to improving environmental outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand.

EDS seeks to protect and restore Aotearoa New Zealand’s outstanding landscapes, freshwater systems, oceans and indigenous biodiversity. We do this through holding business and government to account, strengthening the law when it is found wanting, and supporting good environmental management practice.

EDS combines staunch advocacy with relationship-building to deliver lasting environmental protection.

The Sustainable Business Council (SBC) is a membership organisation with over 130 businesses from all sectors, ambitious for a sustainable New Zealand. Our members represent $118 billion of collective turnover, 33% of GDP, and nearly 190,000 full-time jobs. Our network gives our members unparalleled influence and the ability to take large-scale collective action.

Our businesses believe that we have an opportunity to set New Zealand on the path towards an exciting future, which is prosperous, sustainable, regenerative, zero carbon, and where all New Zealanders thrive. Businesses at the forefront of sustainability are embracing responsible practice, resilience, and regeneration. The regenerative approach aims to enhance the environment and restore the relationship between people and nature.

Formed in 2018, the Climate Leaders Coalition is a CEO-led community of close to 100 organisations leading the response to climate change through collective, transparent and meaningful action on mitigation and adaptation.

Together our signatories represent 34% of GDP, employ more than 210,000 people and have a collective turnover of $126 billion.

We are proud to be a beacon for business action on climate change in the political and public arenas and to be uniting New Zealand businesses to accelerate our transition towards a zero carbon and climate resilient future.
