2025 conference certification

Net Zero Certification

The Lever Room provides CCBC with Net Zero Certification and carbon removals. The Climate Change & Business Conference 2025 has demonstrated its commitment to environmental responsibility by measuring and reporting the event’s greenhouse gas emissions in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol & Net Zero Carbon Events Initiative, and offsetting 100% of operational emissions.

Benefits for climate, communities and nature

Our approach to Net Zero is about more than balancing emissions - it’s about supporting climate action that restores nature and benefits communities. To remove CCBC’s operational footprint, we retired 32 tCO₂ through native forest carbon removals on Banks Peninsula, Aotearoa.

These removals come from a high-integrity native forest project that delivers long-term impact:

  • Indigenous regenerating forest managed for ecological restoration

  • 546 ha registered as Permanent Forestry (PP89) under the NZ ETS, generating ~2,710 tCO₂ of removals each year.

Total emissions

Our emissions footprint for CCBC2025 was measured using the GHG Protocol and the Net Zero Carbon Events Guide, with all data independently assured for certification.

The conference generated 107.59 tCO₂e, with 91% linked to attendee travel – a pattern consistent with national events across Aotearoa.

By applying robust methodologies and transparent reporting, we’re strengthening accountability and enabling smarter decisions about how future conferences can continue to reduce their impact.

Total travel emissions

Travel remains the most significant contributor to CCBC2025’s carbon footprint – a powerful reminder of the systemic challenge we face in decarbonising how we move people across Aotearoa and beyond.

Across the conference, travel accounted for over 91% of total emissions.
